Ok so I have a lot of good things to say about this place (yummy food, great servers, nice fancy place) BUT that's the boring part. Let's talk about what bugged me: I couldn't see what I was eating. It was so freakin dark in there that I was really getting upset that despite how good the food was, I didn't get to see much of it. It was all eaten on faith. I was ready at one point to just take out my iPhone and use it as a damn flashlight. It just creams my corn how some fancy places leave you in such darkness. I love food and would love to see the color of my steak! The one I'm paying $45 for! Second: the noise. There were quite a few of us and it was so loud there that I had a hard time having a conversation with someone not sitting directly next to me. Honestly! So frustrating. The place was packed and at many of the tables I noticed people were literally shouting things at each other. Kind of took the specialness out of the event. Couldn't enjoy myself as much as I would have liked.

J. Alexander's has been a pretty solid Palm Beach Gardens staple for me for a long time. The food is American, which means I don't really have to think about it that much. I've had a variety of dishes here over the years. Their vegetables are always really delicious -- seasoned just perfectly. Their couscous is out of this world. In appetizers, some solid choices are the spinach dip and the queso. I've also gotten the onion rings and the artichokes. The artichokes aren't really meaty but are seasoned really well so they have a lot of flavor. The onion rings are quite possibly some of the largest I have ever seen in person so be prepared if you order them. It's not a Burger King-sized portion. On a recent trip to J. Alexander's, I decided to branch out and try the ahi tuna steak. The seasonal vegetable was a red cabbage and the meal also came with some tomatoes. I have to admit, I was pretty surprised by the quality of the steak and the sides. They were all actually very good! The wasabi mayo was perfect with the rare tuna and the red cabbage was to die for. Seriously, I'm still thinking about it a few days later. One thing I will note about the meat is that it does tend to be a little tough if you order a steak. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the French dip sandwich, though. Service can really be a hit or miss. The last time I was there our server basically rushed us through everything. She asked if we wanted appetizers way too quickly IMO -- literally as we sat down and before we even really had a chance to look at the menu. Definitely some consistent food and a good choice if you're looking for something a little bit more upscale but not too fancy.

Personally I love J Alex. This one has ALWAYS come short. Not enough toppings on the $10 Alex's salad. Undercooked, or overlooked meat. Tasteless fish tacos. Ugh. 4 visits over the years. This is the WORST in the entire chain. It's all the kitchen. The service? Rocked. Sweet girl.

Stopped in for happy hour with a group of friends last night after work. It was a bit stormy outside, but we decided to sit out on the patio because we needed the extra space for everyone. The appetizers and drinks started filling the table and we all enjoyed the evening. I had a taste of the burger and the chicken fingers-nothing overly impressive but tasted pretty good. I ordered a pomegranate martini, and although the serving size was decent for the price, the taste wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I'm spoiled by the pomegranate martini at Ruth's Chris, and just nothing I've ever tasted around here can compare.

When I come to J Alexander's I almost always sit at the bar. The food is solid and reliable. More importantly, we have the staff. The question is who is my fav. There's Heather #1 who thinks she is "all the rage". Then there's Heather #2 who is part Jewish and part Sicilian (need I say more). And last but certainly not least, we have Cora (aka Coral). Cora likes to abuse and belittle me like only she can. In all seriousness; always a fun good time with good food. Def a winner for lunch and drinks with the friendliest staff in town.

I walked in here and was immediately biased to give it a good review. I really liked the layout, the servers, and SMELL. It smelled so tasty. It reminded me of the up-scale chain restaurant Houston's I wish I had posted their Buttermilk Onion Ring appetizer picture, but I never took one. It looked really cool. So, the onion rings were huge, and they came with both a spicy mayo and a side of ketchup. I really liked it, however as I continued to eat it, and without any of the dipping sauces, I realized that the onion rings had a little too much heat on them. Now, I like hot stuff, but the breading of an onion ring should not be spicy, and it was, it was weird, but I still would give the rings a 3.5 My SIL got the Prime Rib and mac and cheese, which she liked, however, she said she didn't really know it was Prime Rib until she put the plate under the light, it's as if she had to tell her mind that what she was eating was Prime Rib. She gives it 3 stars. My wife got the crab cakes and they did a good job on it, very little filler, but there was still something about, given how much crab they used that I felt they could have done more to make it fresh. I would give it a 3, the wife gives them a 4. Now, for my Salmon sandwich and my wife's uncle's Burger...Both of them were dry. AND, he got his steak burger medium rare (pink inside) and he said it was still dry. My Salmon was certainly dry and there wasn't enough dressing on the bun of my Salmon sandwich. Another complaint about the burger is the bun. This is a nice place and the bun was so lame (pictures say 1000 words). Last issue I had was with their fries. I understand that the fries were/are shoestring fries, but it tasted like I was eating fried food and not fried potato. I wish there was more taste of the potato in the fries than just oil.

J Alexander's decor and service was excellent. However the food the day I was there was over sauced and lacking in quality flavor. If you have taste buds I would try another PBG restaurant.

One of the more reliable places for a quick meal on the very busy PGA strip. The room is dark and woody with an upscale feel, but the menu reads more like Friday's or Houston's. Prices are moderate and the selection is very varied. Always seems to be busy with lots of happy people. If you don't expect an intimate, fine-dining experience, you won't be disappointed.

I had gotten in touch with a college girl- friend of mine from NYU and she wanted to see me really bad- so we flew her down and she stayed with me, as she was only going to be visiting for about two days. When looking at the nearby places to eat, she told me that she had stumbled upon a place called J. Alexanders online, and saw their menu had Vegan Burgers and while on her laptop looking over the menu, we both noticed a Yelp review that offered a photo, of what appeared to be .... get this.... "Bubbles and Squeaks". Now, most people that I've told about Bubbles and Squeaks, have not the foggiest idea about what I'm referring to. Bubbles and Squeaks: It's originally and English (and later the Irish fell in love with it) dish, that my mother would make me when I was a little girl. The dish made me happy and giddy and she knew if it was served to me, that I would actually sit still long enough at the dinner table to eat before rushing off to dance practice. The dish is really complicated, but I'll break it down into the very simple American version really. It's smashed potatoes made with an exotic french cheese, corn nibblet's and peas or carrots. This is also mixed in a vegetable stock broth and then baked. There is also a touch of garlic and white wine in there but I'm not sure where. My girlfriend called J. Alexanders immediately (remembering how good it was when I introduced it to her) and asked them if the photo on yelp was indeed 'Bubbles and Squeaks". They said no, but we went anyway, and once we got there we gushed all over our poor waitress about this dish, to the point where we must have seemed excited and annoying. The great thing is, that this waitress said she could work with the kitchen and make us a J. Alexanders version of our desired dish. We then both got even more excited and said really??? (we were clapping like little 7 year old school girls) What resulted is our new 'smashed' potatoes with a little creative help from the chef in the back. They really went over the top for us, and we are forever thankful. The Vegan Burger is really delicious, but what I got more excited about were the 'smashed' potatoes. They were delicious and I will be back for more....

So....a little secret? I sometimes cheat and bring their NYO Mac N Chz to gatherings and pass it off as my own. EEEEK! There! I said it! Place is pretty with a clear view of the kitchen, which I love. Dimly lit with big comfy booths. Service is always wonderful. I've been here dozens of times and have never had an issue with their service. Never! Food is great. We're take out kind of people and we've always been happy with our food once we get home. Says a lot! Take out is much tougher than dine in food IMO. Always on my list of places to dine or grab take out...

I forgot how great this chain is... We use to live in Plantation, and before the birth of our child ate there at least once a month. I think the last time we ate at Plantation was about 3 years ago on our anniversary. This past Wednesday was the wife's B-Day and we were going to go to Fig just down the road. Brought it up on a Google map, and I saw the push-pin for J. Alexander's! I proposed that option to my wife and she was all over it like compound butter on a mid-rare steak! We dined early and upon arrival there were only two other tables occupied; when we left, there was a wait... perfect timing! I'm not going to drone on about how perfectly they grill meat, or how well trained their wait staff is... just know that barring a white pepper incident 6 years ago in Plantation, WE HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT ANY J. ALEXANDER's I just want to stick my entire face into an oversized bowl of the NYO Mac & Cheese... that mac & cheese is without question a "last meal" item.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. The servers are very pleasant and attentive. The prime rib and loaded baked potato were tender and filling. The only reason I have to give this restaurant 3 stars instead of 4 is because I felt the food could have come out hotter. The tea on the other hand was perfect! I added honey to it and enjoyed every sip!

My buddy is new to the country and wanted to try good American food and dining, so I thought this place would be good. It was a good experience for him because of the full service dining. He got the newyork strip with a side of mashed potato, and I got the steak tacos with a side of French fries. Everything came out great and cooked perfectly. We will be comming back, j Alexander has never disappoint.

My oldest son took me here to eat for a pre/ Mother's Day dinner. We had a very nice server, our meals were delicious. Was ver pleased with everything including dessert. Highly recommend & would definitely go again.
Went there on a Sunday afternoon to meet a friend for a drink and a bite to eat. Not very crowded, so we decided to eat at the bar. Great service involving the drinks and the meal we enjoyed. Good selection of wines. We shared their signature burger and a chopped chicken salad, both were well made and delicious. Cool place to get out of the heat and relax in a modern, relaxing setting. Will definitely return.

The menu had a great selection of items and service was wonderful. We tried the giant onion rings and deviled eggs as an appetizer. The rotisserie chicken was excellent, as was the veggie burger and cilantro shrimp. The portions are generous and can be taken home for lunch the next day.

I LOVE this place. If you are looking for delicious food and great EVERY TIME then this is your go to spot. Smaller menu, but it doesn't disappoint. This location does not have my favorite menu item (rattlesnake pasta) but that is ok, it got us to try different things which were equally great.

After hearing how great their burgers were, we were super disappointed. The disappointment was split evenly between the food and service. Over cooked burgers and mistakes on the order..... At one point, I had asked our server for mayonnaise, 7 minutes later after not seeing our primary server, I proceeded to ask two others... They arrived back within moments of each other (after another ~10min wait), each happily carting mayo which they continued to place on the table, next to other mayo. After my happy spicy mayo party was over, we quickly left for dessert.

We stopped in for an early dinner today on our way to the airport after spending the Memorial Day Weekend in West Palm, and were very happy we did! Our server Tiffany was very friendly and attentive, and the food was wonderful! The meal was off to a great start when the hostess offered me a black linen napkin instead of the white (as I was wearing black pants) and details like that go a long way with me. We started with the deviled eggs and fried artichokes which were both done very well and had great flavor. Two of us ordered the fish of the day, which was a Cajun trout with a huge mound of cole slaw - perfect to cut the heat of the Cajun seasoning - and a tasty rice pilaf that wasn't overly salty and was moist. The others had the steak burger which was cooked to the perfect temperature and on French bread for a great crunch with the steak, and the club sandwich that was impressively piled high with bacon, ham, turkey, two kinds of cheese and lettuce and tomato, but was not a messy disaster. Each came with shoe string fries and we had a variety of options for dipping sauce. The waitress also made us a fresh cocktail sauce upon request with great horseradish. The best part was desert. We ordered the key lime pie and warm carrot cake. They were both incredibly unique and delicious. We will definitely stop in again next time we are in town! Four very happy Manhattanites!

Absolutely love this place. The steak and fries are amazing. I sub the fries for mac and cheese sometimes and it's even better. It's a pricey place but for that occasional treat its a great night out. Great service, nice atmosphere, food out of this world. Also, do not leave without desert. The carrot cake is the best I have had. Worth a trip alone. Chocolate is amazing as well.

After a disappointing dinner on Thursday night, decided to visit J. Alexander's where I was sure I would receive great service and impeccable food. I am a frequent diner, and highly recommend the calamari, veggie burger, and mac and cheese. The calamari has the best flavor and texture of any other restaurant I've ever eaten at. The veggie burger is delicious and has such a good texture. Even my partner who is a carnivore to the max and averse to vegetarian dishes opts for the veggie burger when we go. Finally the mac and cheese is the absolute best I've had bar none. The flavor of multiple cheeses, a hint of mustard, the perfect amount of cream, and toasted breadcrumbs all explode your tastebuds. My friends and family have told me that the prime rib is perfect. If you sit at the bar for happy hour, they also offer $5 special appetizers (try the spinach con queso) and wines by the glass. I couldn't recommend this place enough!

Defiantly try their prime rib, and the NY steak and NY Mac n cheese is freaking delish!!!! The Ahi tuna salad was also yummy. Overall, great cuts of meat and a good dining experience.

I love this place, great atmosphere and service. If you are looking for a great resturant where you can have a conversation and hear the person across the table this is the place. Food is always outstanding! Last night I had the Alex Salad which is the best tossed salad in the county and we had the Calamari which is also the best in the whole county as well. My wife and I shared the Steak Maui and it was delicious well cooked and seasoned. We will be coming back again and again.

My family used to eat here at least once a month until about 6 months ago. Me, my aunt and two year old daughter went there for an easily weekday lunch just after 11:00. There were only 2 other tables of customers at the time. My daughter was crying a little bit after my wife ordered drinks. Much to our shock, the manager came to the table and asked us to leave because of the crying baby. On the way out, of of the other tables of customers even commented about how shocked they were that we were kicked out of the restaurant. I could understand a fancy dinner restaurant not allowing kids and their accompanying noises, but I did not expect that from a place I visited regularly and thought was family friendly. With dozens, if not hinders, of other dining options on PGA boulevard I am proud to say that we, our family and friends have not been back since this happened. The day of the incident I called the corporate office to notify them of what happened, but my comments seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. In such a competitive dining environment I really expected more from what used to be an old favorite of our family. Six months later, and now with two children, we have been to many other local restaurants and never experienced another situation like this.

Just another chain with high prices for average food. Won't go back other than to drink at the bar! Great bartenders and know their wines. Food recommendations were taken and we were disappointed. Grilled artichoke was burned badly and overspiced. Steak was just ok.

J Alexader's in Palm Beach Gardens offers first rate atmosphere with an adequate ala carte food menu served with a side of minor corporate chisels. The first thing you notice is no bread. That's the cheap corporate niggle. We didn't miss it that much but we noticed and it came across as tacky. None of the entrees come with a salad but the $6 side salad is generous and quite good. All in all, I'd rather pay for the salad and get a nice one than take the anemic cup of lettuce that passes as a side salad at most restaurants. My wife ordered the 10oz fillet with a baked potato and the steak was cooked perfectly. Hers was excellent and the meat portion was generous. I ordered the Pasta Yaya and that was a huge mistake. The sauce tasted like spicy tomato paste and it actually buried the decent parts of the dish. It didn't help that the penne pasta was dry as Death Valley in the summer but that wouldn't have helped much even it was cooked perfectly. I've actually seen trauma patients in the ER that were more appetizing. I ordered it, it was my fault, but I assign contributory negligence to the waitress who later admitted it wasn't her favorite. At least have the decency to warn people or ask them if they've had it before. TL; DR For what you pay to eat at J. Alexander's you can go down the road a bit to Texas de brazil and have a much better meal for the same money. Skip this one. The food overpriced for what you get.

This is my favorite restaurant ever. The Mac n cheese is to die for. The salmon has always been perfect. The prime rib was the best I've ever had, so savory and melted in my mouth. As always, superb service. I went for prom, Valentine's Day, and once before a flight. NEVER FAILED to make me happy

At lunch today we ordered a smoke salmon dip that was 15-20 of the grey fatty layer that I happen to dislike. The Thai salad was ok but for the price tag definitely not worth it. The server was very nice and attentive. I won't be back anytime soon.

Wow!!! Great experience which is quite hard to come by these days. As we walked in on a busy Sunday afternoon, we were greeted by the bartender Jennifer with a smile. She was very knowledgeable and was able to accommodate all our needs. In closing I would definitely recommend this establishment to a friend and can't wait until our next visit!!!

Food and service were very good, upscale restaurant with fancy menu and wine list. Majority of diners were old folks but perhaps because we got there a little early for dinner (hey we were on vacation, having two dinners in one night) Our waitress Alexandra was awesome. She didn't give us any hard time even though we had little kids trashing the place like Godzilla. Meal itself was the most fancy one I had in the area and was probably the best. Perfect for corporate dinning or night out...even with kids as long as early hour.

I never go to places like J Alexanders, just not my thing but I let a friend decide where to eat and this was it and he told me about the vegan burger.....I got curious? The burger was toted as having tons of veggies and was HUGE, I was quite impressed....then I started eating it. It tasted good but after a few minutes I felt a rush through my blood stream, one of 2 things....MSG or a ton of sugar? I ate a bit more and decided it wasn't worth it to finish my meal. I would have given it fewer stars but....this place is "so Florida" and people seem to like it and the portions are great for the price......I'll never eat here again but I'm sure the snowbirds will gobble this chemically induced processed "whatever you call it" up

I finally got to try J Alexander's this past Saturday! I was really excited because since it was built I had wanted to go, but always settled for other options. I used open table through Yelp to make my reservation, easy! Thanks guys! We walk in and I'm liking what I see. Low lighting with plenty of booths so you can have an intimate conversation with your date. The hostess was friendly, helpful and asked how we were doing. After seating us she asked if we'd like the wine listing, we did. After sitting for only a minute, our waitress walks up and asks if we'd something to drink and if we had an idea on a starter, she then proceeds to name a few. My date and I looked at each other, ordered wine and didn't seem interested in the starters. So, our waitress starts to turn to get our wine...I stop her and ask if there is bread for the table. She said, "yes, i can bring some, would you like some?". I said "yes". I then asked her name. She walks away and I ask my date, did she introduce herself when she walked up because I didn't hear it. She said "no, she didn't". Ok, first, if you're going to come off as a high end place to eat, teach your waiting staff to introduce themselves when they show up at your table. Second, our waitress didn't recommend bread, maybe mention that to the staff. Third, she wasn't pleasant overall, her smile looked forced through a frown. Maybe she was having a bad night, the place was not busy, so I don't know what her deal was. I ordered the walnut encrusted trout with coleslaw. My date ordered shrimp and chicken in penne pasta with marinara sauce. My trout was saturated with seasoning, a light colored sauce and walnuts. it was also super thin. If you don't like fish, this is the dish for you. The fish is masked and overwhelmed with too many seasonings. Unfortunately, i like fish, which is why I ordered it. It was cooked well, moist, but just too busy. Keep it simple or cut back on all the seasoning by 70% so the fish can have a taste of its own. The coleslaw was good. Not too heavy but I doubt it was made onsite. I was sad that there wasn't a third item, offered. eh, oh well. I tried my date's pasta dish. The chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Even though the chicken was in small chunks, it was not dry. Kudos. however the marinara was very light, lack flavor, yet had a kick of spicy heat to it. The pasta was slightly under cooked as well, as it was tough to cut. The best part of of the meal was the carrot cake. My date talked me into it and if you know me, it didn't take much convincing. I was expecting a slice of a traditional piece of cake. However, what came out was a 4 to 5in square, 2 in thick, warm, moist, almost a heavenly gooey piece of carrot cake covered in a cream cheese icing. It was seriously the best piece of carrot cake i've ever had. Amazing. We had a good time, but I don't think the food is worth the price they charge.

J. Alexander's has been a consistent winner for the 2 years my wife and I have been eating there. The service is always excellent and we appreciate that when there is a mistake with the order the manager personally makes sure it is resolved quickly. Fresh guacamole (when they have it), fish tacos, and the 20oz prime rib are favorites. This is an almost weekly spot for me and my wife.

Ok, I feel like kind of a dooooosh doing 4 stars and not 5 as that's usually a cop out; or that's the sign a Christian makes that thinks the only thing perfect is Jesus. I'm neither, but I'm still only giving it 4.....here's why. When I eat places, I find the one thing, I stick with it. I eat the teriyaki steak. Damn it's good. However, sometimes, they burn chips on the bottom. My girl loves the prime rib. The best part about this place honestly is the staff. EVERY FEMALE SERVER IS HOT! Even this preggos one looked good in the face! (Dude, I can totally see why!) THe hostesses seem to have an attitude as I don't wear a suit when I come in all the time. Being a brotha in casual clothes in palm beach gardens gets no respect, but is kind of let it go...you have to in palm beach county Afterall. The floor is ALWAYS slippery, so be careful. They should fix that. Overall....it's a solid 3.75 but rounded up to 4!

Good doesn't do the food or service justice at J. Alexander's. The pork tenderloin here is amazing, as are the baby back ribs, and the attention the staff pays to the customer isn't something you find at just any restaurant. I had the soup of the day on my last visit, in this case the baked potato soup, and it kinda blew my mind. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Sunday night dinner and the restaurant is busy! Average age is pretty old though... Dark restaurant with a open busy kitchen, good smells of steaks grilling. Somehow it's the first steakhouse that doesn't serve bread before the meal... We had the Steak N' Fries and the Rotisserie Half Chicken with fries. The steak was good and very juicy. The chicken, which is apparently one of their famous dish, was just ok. Although it was not overcooked as many of rotisserie chickens are, their was no special taste and it was kind of bland. It is served with some kind of broth that doesn't taste good and has the smell of hot water. The fries were shoestring fries and were good. I personally don't like shoestring fries because I like eating them with my fingers, with you can't with shoestring fries. Somehow disappointed so no dessert. I was not very satisfied with what we had before and didn't want to try anything else. Good portions of food, prices are average and service kind of rude and short.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at this place and loved the decor. The prime rib was exceptional. Salmon dip is a must. Very good service. Good menu choices it's very much like Capitol Grille but more laid back and better menu choices with a lower price. Lovely dinner.

We were impressed at first sight! We arrived on time for our reservation, and were immediately ushered to our table, not a second delay. I got to say it is my first time in Palm Beach County that I had this type of reception. 5 diamonds. The hostess, servers, and assistants were cute, young, and efficient. Water was brought up immediately and someone was ready to get our drink order. Pretty decent wine selection. Generous, not overly, pour. Appetizers were excellent and fast. I always wonder why it takes so long to get appetizers, not at J Alexander's. Our entrees came out quickly, no food auctioning (my biggest pet peeve at any restaurant), they were hot and delicious. My visiting sister-in-law raved about the meal all throughout the meal. We decided to share 2 desserts. The carrot cake - OMG - seriously the best I ever had, and the chocolate cake, let us say that I'll never order that again. Totally not worth the calories. Overall is an excellent place to dine. Not fancy but nice. Pretty good menu, something for everyone. Will come back again. Just one little negative comment. I saw one of the hostess use the restroom and walk away without washing her hands; HOWEVER, she did use the handicap stall and it is possible that she washed her hands in there, out of sight. But, I would think, ALL restaurant personnel should wash their hands visibly, so we don't leave with a doubt. Otherwise I totally recommend J Alexander's.

Great service and great food. Had the rib eye steak and it was almost tender enough to cut with your fork. The atmosphere was good and the place was very busy. Will come back the next time I'm in for the Honda Classic!

I have eaten at this restaurant dozdns of times. The food is always top quality and the service attentive, That said, you'd think they might vary the menu or specials. It has gotten boring so we only go once in awhile. the salads are always excellent. I particularly recommend the prime rib but only when ordered a litter large. the baked mac n cheese is wonderful.

i prefer the outback for half the price and twice the atmosphere. places like this are too upscale for me, i don't have a problem admitting it. occasionally, i like to take my wife out for a nice dinner and splurge a bit. sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's not- to me, this wasn't worth it.

After reading the reviews and since I already went to a J Alexanders in TN, I decided to give it a try and honestly I was not desappointed! I sat at the bar, friendly bartenders, got some smoke salmon dip for apetiser, awesome! Then I had their Carolina Crab Cakes and that was truly great too! The service is super fast, almost too fast, makes you wonder if they microwaved it or something?! They also have good expresso which for me is a big deal. So I would most definitely recommend it, great food, lots of old folks on the night I was there, but its part of the experience in FL I guess... Also, if it's important to you: there is no Wi-Fi available.

Had the fried calamari appetizer which was the best I've had and they served it with the deepest cup of dipping sauce. I usually run out of sauce but no way here. I ordered the cod daily special with mashed potatoes and although I've never tried cod, it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The ambiance was nice and the booths were intimate. I will return!

Came here for lunch and had a great meal. The hostesses were in deep conversation when we walked in, so it took a minute to get a table, but once we did, all was fine. Our server was helpful and attentive and recommended the calamari. So glad she did- it was the best! Then we shared the crab cake and a steak. The crab cake was really delicious, lots of meat, not much filler. The steak was not cooked to temp, so the server took it back. The second time wasn't a charm- I didn't even mention it- but the server noticed when I cut in, sent over the manager- who sent me home w/a new steak and no charge. Great service and customer service! Good food and nice atmosphere.

Wannabe Houston's/Hillstone but misses the mark. Food is overpriced for the quality you get. Regretted getting the Queso dip. French dip is not nearly as tasty as Houston's. Food was mediocre at best.

Had dinner here May 15th, and it was good but wildly inconsistent. My squash that I asked for as a substitution for the baked potato was cold on arrival and my rare prime rib was also room temperature, but it was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious and I enjoyed it immensely--even though it was cold, it was still one of the best pieces of rib roast I've ever had. The service was decent as the server, Jen is apparently a friend of my goddaughter and she went out of her way to give us the best possible service and it wasn't her fault the kitchen gave her cold food. She also took my squash back to the kitchen and returned it blisteringly hot which is how I like my food. I'd have given them 5 stars if my food had been hot to begin with. Iced tea refills were also agonizingly slow which cost them another star. The restroom was spotless though, so that was a plus. I'd go back, but I would make sure I got HOT food this time. The place is a bitch to find because their sign is virtually invisible, but that's not their fault, Palm Beach Gardens is a weird place because they hate it when businesses have visbile signs so people can find them, but they are in the plaza directly west of the Publix at Military and PGA and you can get there from the Publix center parking lot.

This place has the freshest food -- I mean, fresh!! Great big portions. Staff is very attentive and helpful. We come here often and always know we will get a fantastic meal. Love the croissants** that come to the table, but you must try the cornbread. Alex Salad is a favorite, as is the french dip sandwich and fish sandwich. Kids love the massive chicken fingers and shoestring french fries. Biggest loaded baked potatoes you've ever seen! And you've never had macaroni and cheese like this anywhere!! Try it! A staff member recommended it to us, and we have it every time we go! We always leave with leftovers! **No longer serving croissants! :-( BUT ... now that I have tried their NY strip with a side of mac n cheese, OMG, I will never have steak anywhere else!!!!!!!!! I can't stress enough how good this steak is .... better than Capital Grille, III Forks, Ruth Chris, all those top notch places. No, seriously.... try it and see!

My husband and I treated ourselves to a night out. I ordered the pork tenderloin with a slightly spicy sauce, and the loaded baked potato. It was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the rib-eye and was a little disappointed, did not have the good marbling and taste of a rib-eye. However, he ordered the mac&cheese which was delicious.we ended the meal wih he Key Lime Pie which was outrageously delicious! Service was great, nice ambiance, overall good experience .

Came here this past Sunday afternoon with my cousin Jenny C. We were both starving as it was around 3pm and neither one of us had eaten all day. I hadn't eaten beef in around 25 days and was ready to nosh on a super juicy burger. I heard this was a great place for steak and burgers. We were promptly seated by the super nice hostess. Then our server was Soro. (Spelling?) He's a super nice dude from Venezuela, very informative as we had a lot of questions cause we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat. I was so hungry that I wanted the Ahi Tuna Salad, the Fish Tacos and a Classic Burger. I was saying this to our server and he actually began writing it all down thinking I was actually ordering all of that !!! LOKO!! I broke down and actually went with the burger...with sauteed onions and mushrooms on the side. It was a mile high burger with a nice helping of shoe string french fries. (Thats why I'm not giving 5 stars, because I'm a sucker for thick cut french fries, and they are necessary when eating a burger). Jenny C also had a burger, and instead of fries she ordered the mac n cheese and a loaded potato. It was a DEFINITE cheat day. Our entire table was full of food. And I forgot to mention the sauteed Calamari that we started with. SO AMAZE. They actually brought us two orders (we didn't ask for two) but the first order was small so they sent out another. NICE TOUCH. This place is a nice casual dining experience, good food, great service, non pretentious, will return to try the fish tacos and Ahi Tuna Salad!!

So much for me and my pre-conceived notions of dining. When some friends suggested meeting at J. Alexander's for drinks and perhaps dinner, I cursorily checked the internet for the lowdown and from what little I read, I had visions it being some kind of cheeseball, darkly lit supperclub. But, I had been in the sun all day and frankly a dark cool cave of a place sounded rather enticing so I agreed to go. When we arrived, I was happy to see lots of free parking without the ubiquitous orange cones. Definite star for that alone. We went inside and joined our friends at the bar tables which were topped with mosaic glass. The tables were lit with an orange light from within and glowed, like something from a Harry Potter movie. However, I dig a bit of decor whimsy and the cool atmosphere was extremely soothing for my sunburn. And now, I'm going to move to the highlights of J. Alexander's since I think reviews are more readable that way: 1) Excellent Waitstaff- When we ordered drinks, my husband dithered over whether to get a glass of the Shiraz or Zin and without missing a beat, the waitress turned and marched to the bar from which she brought back complimentary tastings of each wine for him to try. Husband was very very happy with all this attention and chose the Zin. And, whilst on this topic, we received equally efficient and friendly service in the dining room so another star for the waitstaff. 2) Awesome Food- I had the ahi tuna salad which came with greens tossed in a mouthwatering ginger vinaigrette and interspersed with fried flour tortilla strips which was accompanied by expertly seared tuna squares. Someone ordered the Mexican Eggrolls for the table which were unusual and delicious. Once in the Dining Room for dinner, we were given a basket of warm croissants which were like freshly baked Pillsbury Crescent Rolls but better (if that is EVEN possible). Husband had the wedge salad with chopped bacon, tomatoes and blue cheese cumbles which he devoured and then the grilled salmon entree which he proclaimed was "perfect". Our friends had grilled steaks to which they signaled a happy thumbs up. 3. Cool Atmosphere: If you've read my other reviews, you'll have noted my horror of chain restaurants and dining in strip centers. Mea culpa. J. Alexander's glowing bar tables turned out to be fun. The large dining room was done up with stylish wenge wood plus the tables were mostly booths which ramped up the coziness quotient. J. Alexander's reminded me a lot of a Houston's restaurant but was even better which pleased the bejeebus out of this admittedly picky restaurant reviewer.

If you happen to go there ask for Kelly. She was a amazing waitress and was extremely knowledgeable of the food. Overall this place was amazing. A little bit of a pain to park because there is so much right by it but amazing!

Food was pretty good and service was pretty good and the mistakes were pretty minor and the restaurant was pretty pretty. If you've been to a Houston's then you'll recognize some of the same themes but with a decisively lower quality point in terms of...well, everything. Had 2 blue cheese encrusted steaks, 2 prime ribs, a salmon and a cajun shrimp. Two meals were quite wrong and to mgmnt's credit they removed from bill (one was a bread crumb crust served to a gluten free diner...ouch). would much rather have had the right meals though. They ran out of our wine after one bottle but that happens. Truly, it was an okay experience, but one that left us wanting a little more in pretty much every category. [And to be fair, the dinner the preceding night was at Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach so they were in trouble from the get-go comparatively.] Adjust expectations and you could have a very nice time.

Loved it! Nice space, modern/trendy. Reminds me of an upscale Hillstone's . Menu is similar. Our table of 6 ordered ribs, Maui steak and prime rib. All were delish. We had one issue with prime rib not being cooked to temp so we returned it.... 30 seconds later it came back as rare as it arrived the first time so we had to return it twice, but third time was a charm.

Food and service are great! J Alexander's is awesome. Their food is incredible, one of the best burgers you can get in South Florida. Also their chicken sandwich is phenomenal. The marinade they use for the chicken in combination with the flavor that comes from their grille is amazing. Also great salads with homemade dressings! The prices get a bit high when you get into steaks, seafood and even their french dip sandwich ($18). But the quality is still there. Also their key lime pie is one of the best I've ever had. Just as good as Houston's key lime pie - seriously! Finally the mac and cheese is out of this world! It is truly awesome! You can sub it for fries or baked potato as your side dish, which is good b/c their fries really aren't all that. If there's a downside I'd say they could use a few more appetizers. Specifically they could definitively use Spinach Dip! They have a queso dip, but that's just not the same. Overall this place still rocks though! 5 stars!

Very nice atmosphere, kids are welcome. Spinach dip was excellent, veggie burger was so good but so big couldn t even finish it, the fish sandwich was okay not great. I still would go back and check out the rest of the menu.

The first time I went there they ran out of prime rib by 8:30. Crazy huh? Again, I had some folks from out of town come and suggested J Alexanders. Got there at 7:30 they cram the 6 of us in booth. We ordered drinks and appetizers and prime rib for 4 people. After we got our drinks and appetizers, they came back saying they were out of prime rib. TWO times i have gone there and no Prime rib!!!!! How can you run a restaurant and run out of food???????? What did the manager do??--nothing just apologize. Wow that made everything better. NOT!!! If you going be on PGA blvd with 30 other places to eat within a mile I believe you better get it together. Don't use the excuse that we get it fresh.

This is a trendy place with modern, clean lines, and attentive staff. It's a little loud, but that was not an issue for me as I was eating alone. It is clearly intended for a more professional, modern crowd so you don't see many blue-haired ladies around. The menu has a limited but diverse menu from fish to pasta to meat dishes. They even had side items including old fashioned mac & cheese and a skillet of cornbread. I ordered the crab cake dinner which came with a side of fries. I asked what the veggie of the day was, and it was spaghetti squash on top of marinara sauce with Parmesan cheese. I thought I was going to get fries and the squash, but he substituted it for the fries. He also messed up my drink order since I explicitly asked for no sugar juice, but it was added anyway. Then on top of that, I ended up apologizing for the mix-up. I think the restaurant tries so hard to be trendy, cute and fast pace that its staff think they're cute too and ends up messing up orders. I don't care how cute they are, I just want the right order. Although it was OK that I didn't get them as when I walked into the restaurant, the kitchen is open and I saw a huge bin of pre-cooked french fries. In either case, the crab cakes were good as they were all crab, although I would have liked a small amount of breadcrumbs. The squash was not to my liking so I ended up paying $27 for 2 medium size crab cakes. The plating is interesting as all side items such as fries, potatoes, even my squash, is piled high to about 4 - 6 inches. That's just odd to me...it's like they're trying too hard and it makes the plating look off balance. Oh I forgot, I ordered the Polish Gumbo and it was just this dark soup with a few pieces of meat and loaded with rice....just boring, not fresh, and way too salty. Since I'm a Southerner at heart, the only reason I would go back is to try a few of the new American take on Southern fare. Otherwise, I'd find a better restaurant.

What can I say about J Alexander's. A group of my friends and I dined there the other night and I must say the service was fantastic for a Friday night. So I ordered the Pork Tenderloin with the smashed potatoes and it was great. The portions were huge, and the quality of the meat was top notch. One of my friends ordered the rotisserie chicken and the portions looked even larger. My only complaint of it was it looked a little dry. I would definitely return to J alexander's on my next trip to palm beach florida

J. Alexanders is a good place to eat out. We tend to eat at the bar, so the "service" aspect of my review is a little skewed as we sit directly in front of the bartender. The menu is limited, but diverse enough so that anyone could find a dish to their liking. The cocktail prices are expensive which is my only complaint, but we limit it to one drink each to compensate. The crowds during season fill the one in Palm Beach Gardens up pretty quickly, so either come very early, or after 8:45 PM. The staff and GM are very nice, and most always have a smile. In the winter months, try the bar that faces PGA Boulevard. When the weather gets cooler, they have a gas fireplace and an outdoor flat screen TV. Dining at J. Alexanders is not a bad start to the evening !

Wonderful place for fancy or casual dining, prime rib is out of this world... And after multiple times of coming I've never had a bad meal. Well priced, great service...Ask for Carmella in the gardens, she's awesome!

Probaby some of the best lunch you can get in the area. I will say that it is a little pricey for the lunch hour but the food is always worth it. Good service and the bartenders can really make a great cocktail.

Service was very slow, sodas were too watery, 1 of 3 salads came half prepared. Scallops, chicken and shrimp were very tasty.

Pretty good chain restaurant with good ambiance. I think the best bet is their salads. Service is just fair. They have a tendency to use to much butter to enhance the taste of meats/vegetables. I know lots of people like their onion rings, but I usually skip them.

I went here the other day for dinner with a friend. The greeters were very friendly. Found the place to have a pretty nice atmosphere. I ordered the pork chops and my friend ordered the salmon. Both of our dishs were great. My only complaint was that there wasnt a whole lot on the menu. The mac and cheese was awesome.

Nice, imaginative menu that was well prepared. Wine list was small but showed some thought and creativity as well. Service was efficient and fast. Almost too fast, but enough to be truly annoying. (I tried very hard to get a smile out of our server but never was successful.) overall a solid, consistent choice. Tip: if you like artichokes the grilled version here is pretty tasty.

Amazing service!!! Every time I am here I am amazed by the service! The staff is very attentive and the kitchen is super quick! You have to try the onion rings! Ask for extra croissants, they are amazing! All the food on the menu is good but I really like the French dip sandwich, the chicken salad sandwich and anything with a side of Mac and cheese!!! You won't be disappointed!

Valentine's Day we decided to call and reserve a table for 2. At 5pm we were told if we got there by 6 then we would be seated with 15 minutes. Our name was taken over the phone and true to their word we were seated before 630pm. When we arrived at 6 we watched many others come in and were told an hour or more wait time. We were lucky. The restaurant is large but with the dark wood and low lighting it has a nice romantic ambiance. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive even though it seemed extremely busy. Hubby had prime rib, I chose the Steak Brazzo(pcs of filet mignon marinated in a wild mushroom madeira sauce, both of us had smashed potatos and a salad. We started with a bottle of Merlot. The best part of the meal was the dessert we shared. It was a special they made on Valentine's Day....this huge piece of ice cream cake covered with caramel and pecans. mmm mmm mmm!! Food was good, restaurant is within walking distance from home, prices were reasonable and wait staff adequate. Would I go again, sure.

i know this place well, perhaps ate lunch or dinner at least once a week...coming from Juno beach this place was so convenient ....consistency is what keeps us hopefully coming back, and that's not the case here...sadly i will never return to this restaurant again thanks to management...how not to treat loyal customers is my complaint...manager needs to learn some basics, first if customers ask to see you it means were not happy ...its simple...please don't defend a uncooked potato ...ohh my its silly...

Love this place. You would never know it is a chain restaurant if you went by the decor or quality of food. I have eaten here several times and have never had a bad meal. The menu is a good mix of high and low end meals - you can have a burger or a filet. The wine selection is good and the service is very good. The servers are very knowledgable, even if they do seem to be just reciting a memorized script to you. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere - dark with low lighting, just a really great ambiance. You won't be disappointed here, although you might have to wait awhile to get a table in season.

One of our favorites but a good meal at a reasonable price. Check out their ribs (they are excellent) and mac and cheese!

Rocked. Sweet girl.
(1)Joanne L.
(3)Jeremy S.

(2)Danny S.
J Alexander's decor and service was excellent. However the food the day I was there was over sauced and lacking in quality flavor. If you have taste buds I would try another PBG restaurant.
(3)Walter M.

One of my favorite restaurants in palm beach. My favorite cocktail here is the Fleur De Lis. Hard to choose an entrée that I like the most because they are all excellent. The prime rib is amazing, fish tacos are delicious, their Mac and cheese is mind blowing. Must check this place out!

(4)Greg B.

(5)Andrew F.

(5)Jason S.

(5)Geri V.
Defiantly try their prime rib, and the NY steak and NY Mac n cheese is freaking delish!!!! The Ahi tuna salad was also yummy. Overall, great cuts of meat and a good dining experience.
(4)Ed E.
(5)Aaron B.
(1)Laura K.
Just another chain with high prices for average food. Won't go back other than to drink at the bar! Great bartenders and know their wines. Food recommendations were taken and we were disappointed. Grilled artichoke was burned badly and overspiced. Steak was just ok.
(3)Chris P.
(3)Jennica L.
(5)michael r.
At lunch today we ordered a smoke salmon dip that was 15-20 of the grey fatty layer that I happen to dislike. The Thai salad was ok but for the price tag definitely not worth it. The server was very nice and attentive. I won't be back anytime soon.
(1)NY Foodie D.
One of my favorite places in Palm Beach. Service is impecable and the food is always fantastic. The two must haves are: The Mac & Cheese and the Carrot Cake. MUST HAVES! You will thank me later.
(4)Billy S.
(5)Eric D.
Oh my my deliciousness!!! Get the ribs. Do not be fooled by the size, because once you start you won't stop til they are gone.
(5)Tom I.
(4)Jayne B.
We always make a reservation at J's when we are visiting from Ky. Food and service are always good. Our must have is the warmed carrot cake!

I would have given it fewer stars but....this place is "so Florida" and people seem to like it and the portions are great for the price......I'll never eat here again but I'm sure the snowbirds will gobble this chemically induced processed "whatever you call it" up
(3)Keith H.

(5)Deejay S.
Eat here all the time! Never been disappointed! NY strip and the Mac n chz!! Try it ASAP!!
(4)Daniel E.
Steak is good. Burgers are good. Even the tacos were good.
(4)M L.
(4)Jose L.
(5)Laure M.
(2)Ally B.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at this place and loved the decor. The prime rib was exceptional. Salmon dip is a must. Very good service. Good menu choices it's very much like Capitol Grille but more laid back and better menu choices with a lower price. Lovely dinner.
(4)Wendy A.
Service is spectacular. Great ambiance. Best calamari app!! Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and just amazing. Thank u Todd for your outstanding service. Anything you order is just prepared with great and quality ingredients!!!
(5)Laurie D.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Carrot cake is the best ever! But choc is as incredibly good!!
(5)Jeff M.
its pricey, but decent American food. Like Paul Martins or Jacksons in LA. the artichoke appetizer is fantastic. I had that and the veggie burger, which was sloppy and fell apart on me.
(3)Teca S.
(4)J L.
Great service and great food. Had the rib eye steak and it was almost tender enough to cut with your fork. The atmosphere was good and the place was very busy. Will come back the next time I'm in for the Honda Classic!
(5)Scott K.
(4)Joey C.
i prefer the outback for half the price and twice the atmosphere. places like this are too upscale for me, i don't have a problem admitting it. occasionally, i like to take my wife out for a nice dinner and splurge a bit. sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's not- to me, this wasn't worth it.
(3)Alain G.
(4)Mike W.
If you want a quality meal with excellent service you need to look no further. J. Alexander's never disappoints. Steaks are delicious here and their extensive wine list is excellent. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
(5)Phil P.
(5)Brooke R.
bartender took a while to greet us but other than that everything was great. spinach dip was amazing and the burger was great.
(4)Zuzette M.
We are from Miami and this restaurant is great!!! Fabulous menu and great service!! Would recommend it to anyone!!! Prices are very reasonable.
(5)Kerry D.
(3)Wrex T.
Wannabe Houston's/Hillstone but misses the mark. Food is overpriced for the quality you get. Regretted getting the Queso dip. French dip is not nearly as tasty as Houston's. Food was mediocre at best.
(3)Teri D.
(3)K C.
(5)Jason W.
Came here once on a recommendation from a friend..... And wow I was thoroughly impressed. Food was amazing and out in a timely fashion and I never saw the bottom of my drink. Taylor is an excemplorary server!!
(5)Paula B.
(4)Tim D.
Great food!! The best French Dip I have ever had also you must try the carrot cake.
(5)Cristina V.

(5)Ed J.
If you happen to go there ask for Kelly. She was a amazing waitress and was extremely knowledgeable of the food. Overall this place was amazing. A little bit of a pain to park because there is so much right by it but amazing!
(5)Michael M.
(3)Abby R.
(4)Joel G.
5 stars!
(5)Richard W.
Had the Smoked Salmon dip for appetizer. Excellent smoked flavor. Also had they bacon cheeseburger. They cooked it perfect to my liking. Service was excellent. Would come again.
(4)Adam F.
Went here for lunch. Very classy restaurant. Not too loud. Great choices of food. Had a salad and the chicken was perfect. Good service. Easy location to get in and out of. Would recommend.
(4)Rima D.
Very nice atmosphere, kids are welcome. Spinach dip was excellent, veggie burger was so good but so big couldn t even finish it, the fish sandwich was okay not great. I still would go back and check out the rest of the menu.
(4)Rick K.
(2)Beatrice R.

Ordinary....very ordinary.
